Welcome back!
Amongst all the chaos of engagements and wedding planning we started shopping around for the biggest investment of our lives, our first home. We went to quite a few home inspections and saw a few duds but managed to find a home that we absolutely loved!
We had actually seen this home advertised when we weren’t seriously looking to purchase just trying to get a feel for the market, and we really liked the feel of it and were very disappointed when it was advertised as sold.
When we began seriously looking we weren’t getting that same feeling for other homes and then all of a sudden this home was back on the market.. how lucky are we? We immediately arranged an inspection time and were very excited to visit the property. We later found out that the sale had fallen through due to the last couples finance so we decided to pounce and put an offer in straight away. The whole process went so quickly, our offer was accepted the very next day and the next thing we knew we were signing our lives away.
We opted for a short settlement period and our moving day ended up being the day after a small get away to Tasmania! What a crazy few weeks that was.
Lucky for us we have amazing friends and family who went out of their way to help us move and set up our first home. Unlucky for us the previous owner of the home left it an absolute mess, hello to our new best friend, bleach!! We managed to clean and move ALMOST everything in, in one day and spent the following few days unpacking the remaining boxes.
It became apparent very quickly what things we didn’t yet have and desperately needed, let me tell you it’s no easy feat peeling a pumpkin without a vegetable peeler. Kmart soon became like our second home.
We thought that it might take some time to adjust but it felt natural from the very beginning, coming home to each other and looking after ourselves.
We've had our far share of dramas with the home as I'm sure all new home owners do. Within a week of moving in we had a small bee infestation on our front porch which we had to move (not scary at all we swear). Then we had the issue of our back door being an internal door which we have replaced and painted ourselves and we absolutely love the way it looks and it lets so much more light into our kitchen.
Both our decks were in desperate need of some TLC and its amazing how good they look after a good lick of oil.
2 and a half years on and we have completed a LOT of projects around the home which we can't wait to share with you in the near future, we do hope you hang around.
Love TM xx
